Flashback

Sanvi sat in her small village home, surrounded by the familiar sights and sounds of her childhood.

But her mind was elsewhere, dreaming of the future she longed for. She wanted to study, to learn, to grow. But her mother, Nalini, had other plans.

"Sanvi, why waste your time studying?" Nalini said, her voice firm but laced with concern. "You'll get married one day, and no one wants an educated girl. If you're educated, no one will marry you."

Sanvi felt a pang of frustration and sadness.

Why couldn't her mother understand?

She wanted to make something of herself, to be independent, to have a voice.

"But Mother, I want to learn," Sanvi pleaded, her eyes welling up with tears. "I want to be someone."

Nalini's expression softened, but her stance remained firm. "Sanvi, you're a girl. Your place is in the home. You'll make a good wife and mother one day. That's all you need."

Sanvi felt a lump form in her throat as she realized her mother would never understand. She felt trapped, like her dreams were being suffocated by the societal expectations placed upon her.

As she looked around her small village, Sanvi saw the limited options available to her. The girls who had pursued education were ostracized, labeled as "too modern" or "too ambitious." The ones who conformed were praised, their marriages arranged without hesitation.

Sanvi's heart ached as she realized she was caught in a cycle she couldn't escape. Her mother's words echoed in her mind, a constant reminder of the limitations placed upon her.

But Sanvi refused to give up. She made a silent vow to herself: she would find a way to pursue her dreams, no matter what. She would prove to herself and everyone else that a girl could be educated, independent, and still be loved and valued.

As she wiped away her tears, Sanvi felt a spark of determination ignite within her. She would fight for her future, no matter how impossible it seemed.

In present time

Sanvi's parents, Rajinder and Nalini, sat in their angaan , sipping tea and discussing their daughter's future. Sanvi, now 20 years old, was of marriageable age, and they felt pressure from their community to find her a suitable groom.

"We need to find someone who understands her," Rajinder said, stroking his chin thoughtfully. "She's a smart girl, but also stubborn. We can't have her married to just anyone."

Nalini nodded in agreement. "I know a family in the next village. Their son, Satinder, is a good man . He's sarapach of that village . I've heard he's kind and respectful."

Rajinder's eyes lit up. "That sounds perfect. Let's arrange a meeting."

Sanvi's pov

I wore my blue kurti, a beautiful shade that reminded me of a clear summer sky. The fabric was soft and comfortable, and the intricate embroidery on the sleeves added a touch of elegance.

I paired it with a pair of simple white leggings and slipped on my silver anklet, which jingled softly as I moved.

Next, I prepared my puja thali, a beautiful silver plate adorned with intricate designs. I placed a small diya (lamp) in the center, surrounded by a few grains of rice, a small bowl of water, and a few flowers. I also added a small idol of Lord Ganesha, my favorite deity.

"Maa, ma, ja rhi hu mandir," I said to my mother before leaving the house. I was heading to the temple today to worship God for my family's good health and wealth. As I walked towards the temple, I couldn't help but feel a sense of peace and tranquility.

[ maa i am going ]

As I walked to the temple, I felt a sense of peace and tranquility wash over me. The sun was shining brightly, and the cool breeze carried the sweet scent of flowers. I reached the temple and began my worship, offering prayers and flowers to the deity.

After worshipping God, I decided to take a stroll along the ghat. The sun was shining brightly, and the cool breeze from the river felt refreshing on my skin. As I walked, I noticed a man staring at me.

As his gaze whispers across my skin like a summer breeze, I tenderly wrap my dupatta around me, a delicate shield against curious eyes that seek to unravel my mystery. The fabric's gentle caress conceals my form, a soft embrace that protects my modesty, yet reveals hints of my beauty.

Just as the rose's delicate petals hint at the beauty within, my dupatta's subtle drape whispers secrets of my soul, leaving him to wonder at the mysteries beneath. The delicate dance of fabric and shadow creates an enigmatic allure, a siren's call to his imagination, beckoning him to unravel the secrets I gracefully conceal.

I turned my face and hid my body, which wasn't clearly visible to me either.

Feeling a bit uneasy, I quickly made my way to my friend Shruti's hut, which was located between the ghat and the temple. I had brought some prasad (offerings) for her and wanted to catch up on some important discussions.

As I entered her hut, Shruti greeted me warmly and asked about my day. I told her about the strange encounter with the man on the ghat and my worship at the temple. She listened intently and offered some words of wisdom.

I spent the rest of the evening with Shruti, discussing important matters and enjoying each other's company. As the sun began to set, I knew it was time to head back home.

Satinder's pov

As I was returning home from a long day, my car suddenly sputtered and came to a halt near the  Ghat.

The driver assured me it was just a minor issue and told me to wait while he went to call a mechanic. I got out of the car and couldn't help but notice a girl standing nearby, her face obscured by the fading light.

She was deeply engrossed in her worship, her hands clasped together in reverence.

As I watched, mesmerized, she took a dip in the river, and the water droplets slowly trickled down her forehead, tracing a path down her nose and chin before disappearing between her valley of breast.

Ahh fuck!!

I was struck by her ethereal beauty, even though I couldn't see her face clearly.

Just then, the driver returned with the mechanic, and they quickly got to work repairing the car.

I couldn't take my eyes off the girl, who had now moved to stand near a small hut, seemingly asking for something. Suddenly, the skies opened up, and a gentle rain began to fall.

The mechanic's hands moved swiftly, fixing the car with ease. I sat inside, my mind elsewhere,

still envisioning her curves. Though I hadn't seen her face, her body had left an indelible mark on my mind.

The way her hips swayed with each step, the gentle slope of her shoulders, and the subtle flair of her waist – every detail was etched in my memory. My thoughts were a jumble of wonder and longing, as if my brain was trying to conjure up her face to match the beauty of her form.

As we drove away, I couldn't shake off the image of the mysterious girl.

Her serene beauty and the peaceful atmosphere of the  Ghat had left an indelible mark on my heart.
